William Coats
Drums and Vocals

Since the age of 3, William has been molding his playing, with styles from jazz to funk and influences ranging from Pat Torpey to Carter Beauford. All of these have helped William to create a style all his own. Being brought up in music and working with his father doing concert sound, William has had the chance to play with such acts as T. Graham Brown, Billy Dean, and The Kentucky Headhunters, to name a few. William has also had the opportunity to work in several recording studios in the southeast. In addition, he also teaches private lessons and works with several high school drumlines across Mississippi.
While attending college in 1997, William was introduced to Jonathan Singleton. In May of 2002, Jonathan contacted William and asked him to begin playing drums for The Grove. Since that time, his creative rhythms, mixed with the outlandish grooves of Andy Dixon and Dave Thomas, have made The Grove’s rhythm section a force to be recon with.
