Dave, the son of symphony orchestra musicians, was born in Cape Girardeau, MO. He began violin lessons at the age of 2 and switched to classical piano at age 5. After moving to Tennessee, his attention started to focus on rock and roll where he joined local heavy metal act The Voodoo Hippies (which became Island Def Jam recording artist Full Devil Jacket) in 1995. He Left in 1997 to tour with nationally with acclaimed blues artist Little Milton Campbell, eventually rising to the role of bandleader before taking a job with R&B soul & gospel diva Denise LaSalle.
While touring with Denise, Dave met Jonathan Singleton and Andy Dixon and began playing with The Smoking Jackets until the band broke up in mid 2000 and reformed as The Grove. Dave has played alongside performers including The Temptations, Bobby Blue Bland, B.B. King, Ike Turner, and many others. Dave is a Taurus and enjoys Mario Golf, Wheel of Fortune, redheads, and animals that can talk.
